Biographical / Historical
In the spring of 1998, DePaul University began a process of academic program review led by faculty members on the university’s Academic Program Review Committee (APRC). The process was implemented on a seven-year schedule, called a megacycle, with departments and programs participating in 15-month review periods, called cycles. During each cycle, faculty committees completed a self-study report centered on a template of key issues, prioritizing the major issues they identified as important to their department, program, or center. The culmination of the review process was a Memorandum of Agreement in which the faculty, dean, Executive Vice President, and APRC agreed on the next steps for each unit and for the university in addressing the issues raised during review. A Progress Report detailed the steps taken to implement these newly agreed upon actions, and the APRC drafted a response to the report.

Arrangement
The Academic Program Review Records are organized into four series: 1. Committee Files; 2. Megacycle I Files; 3. Megacycle II Files; 4. APR Planning. Most of the materials are arranged alphabetically by academic department, college, school, program, center, or institute, then chronologically. Series 2, Megacycle I Files, is further divided into subseries representing the seven cycles of the megacycle. It is important to note that some of the programs have self-study reports that were completed before the Academic Program Review process began in 1998. See series level arrangement notes for more information.
