Biographical / Historical

DePaul University's provost serves as the chief academic officer, directing deans, faculty, and staff and communicating between faculty and the administration. DePaul's provost, housed within the Office of Academic Affairs, is appointed by the Board of Trustees and reports to the University President.

Helmut Epp, founder of the College of Communications (now the College of Computing and Digital Media [CDM]), served as provost from 2006 to 2012. Patricia O'Donoghue served as interim provost until Donald Pope-Davis was appointed in the summer of 2012. O'Donoghue again served as interim provost when Pope-David resigned in winter of 2012. David Miller of the College of CDM served as interim provost for the 2014-2015 academic year when O'Donoghue took office as interim president during Rev. Holtschneider's sabbatical during the fall of 2014. Marten denBoer was appointed provost in the summer of 2015.
