Scope and Contents

This collection contains Oberc's personal zine collection and documents his contribution to the underground press. The majority of the zines in this collection contain his work, and Oberc's artwork is featured on the covers of his zines and numerous others. His interviews are included in Chiron Review among other zines. Insight on Oberc's writing can be found in one of his zines titled Bitch (Box 1). The literary publications from the University of Kentucky, Fabbro (Box 2) and JAR (Box 3), also include his work. Additionally, Oberc explains his project and ambitions regarding producing a review source for alternative media named Burr (Box 6).

Biographical / Historical

Lawrence Oberc has published his art, poetry and interviews in small and medium sized presses including music magazines. In addition to collaborating with other zine publications, he has published numerous zines of his own work, mainly poetry and art. Oberc was the co-editor of the literary magazine Clutch, which was in print from 1991 to 1998.
