Scope and Contents
The Collection on Peace Activism brings together several donations received from individuals associated with members of the Berrigan family and others involved with peace activism. Created in March 2014, this collection contains correspondence, publications, and ephemera documenting peace activism and activists.

Biographical / Historical
Anti-war activists, many affiliated with the Catholic Church and referred to the as the “Catholic Left,” staged a number of peace actions beginning in the late 1960s. Notably, the Berrigan family (Daniel Berrigan, JeromeBerrigan, Philip Berrigan and ElizabethMcAlister) shares this lifelong commitment to peace, supporting anti-war efforts and disarmament, protesting against nuclear weapons, and advocating for civil rights and social justice.
