Scope and Contents
The DePaul University History Department Records consist of correspondence and memoranda, meeting minutes, proposals, reports, publicity, financial records, publications, course descriptions, oral histories, and various subject files related to Dr. Albert Erlebacher's role on university wide and outside department's committees. Materials relate to departmental committees and programs as well as the department as a whole.

Biographical / Historical
The DePaul University History Department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees with courses focused on nearly every region in the world. For much of the mid-twentieth century, the History Department was known as the Department of History and Political Science. On September 1, 1967 the two sections split and Political Science gained independent status as a department.

The DePaul University History Department Records contain materials from the files of the Office of the Vice President, Dean of Faculties covering the tenure of both Dr. Patricia Ewers and her predecessor, Father John T. Richardson, and from the office of the Dean of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Richard Meister. The collection also contains records generated during the chairmanships of Dr. Hughes, Dr. Fries, Dr. Sipple, Dr. Erlebacher, Fr. Croak, Dr. Mockaitis, and Dr. Krokar. A significant number of files from 1981-2006 are from Dr. James Krokar. This collection contains unaccessioned materials from Dr. Albert Erlebacher, Dr. Arthur Thurner, Dean Martin Lowery, Dr. James Krokar, and Fr. Thomas M.
