Biographical / Historical

Leon Stein (1910-2002) was a conductor, composer, and teacher. Dr. Stein earned his Masters and PhD. in Music from DePaul University in 1935 and 1949, respectively. Except for two years of military service during World War II, Dr. Stein taught at DePaul from 1931 until his retirement in 1978. He was the recipient of awards for compositions and for service to the musical community; director and conductor of orchestras within the Chicago area, and Dean of the School of Music at DePaul.
